Travel Reel Templates

Travel reel templates turn a trip's worth of photos and clips into a 16 to 20 second recap with the cuts, motion and place-name type already done. ReelXo has 9, ranging from a quiet four-shot sequence of slow dissolves to fast city diaries and road trips cut to rock.

They suit a weekend away, a mountain trek, a city break or a long drive. You fill the slots in the order the template asks ("The landmark", "The street", "Last light"), type the place or city into the text lines where there are any, and export a vertical reel ready for Instagram, TikTok or Shorts.

How to choose

  • Fewest shots and the calmest pace: Northbound (16s, 4 photos) uses slow dissolves, dips to black and quiet type. Field Notes (18s, 6 photos) shows a square slideshow with numbered plates and no filters.
  • For a city with a name worth showing off, Dawat-e-Ishq (16s, 7 photos) scrolls stacked photo bands under a script watermark, and Bangkok Diaries (18s, 9 shots, 3 clips) puts a big outlined city name up and stamps a location on three stops.
  • For mountains and treks, Hai Junoon (20s, 8 photos) scrolls a photo strip in a white column, then cuts a fast diagonal montage, with slots for "The road", "Arms wide" and "The landmark".
  • For two people on the road, Two Backpacks (19s, 9 shots) lands three words on three beats with whip pans; Desert Highway and Red Car Getaway (both 19s, 8 shots) are text-free road trips, one letterboxed and sand-warm, the other punchy with a split screen on the chorus.
  • For a slow beach or pool holiday, Slow Days (19s, 9 shots) frames every shot on warm paper with bossa nova underneath and no text.

What to shoot first

  • Shoot one wide establishing frame. Northbound opens on "Wide, and let it breathe", and Hai Junoon's opening shot sits behind the title and closes the reel.
  • Get the landmark, then the real streets. Dawat-e-Ishq asks for "The one building everyone photographs" and then "Where the city actually happens".
  • Take at least one photo of yourself there. Slots like "You there" ("Proof you actually went") and "Arms wide" need you in the frame.
  • Collect small details: prayer flags, a bell, a cup of chai, street food, a doorway. Hai Junoon, Bangkok Diaries and Slow Days all have a detail or still-life slot.
  • Film three short clips if you want the clip-based templates: walking off with your bags, eating something good, the moment you reached the top. Bangkok Diaries, Two Backpacks, Desert Highway, Slow Days and Red Car Getaway each need 3.
  • Save a last-light shot: a sunset, the drive home, morning light through a window. Most travel templates end on one.
